Ever get the feeling that some things have been around forever?

Village Cleaners and Shirt Laundry is just such a place. It’s been keeping Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul area) residents cleaned and pressed since it opened for business at Miracle Mile as Village Cleaners in 1951. Larry Ramsey became sole owner in 1971. Today, he and his wife, Lynn, are still there keeping their patrons looking their best — doing everything on-site.

Over the years, the Ramseys have seen lifestyles, fabrics and fashion — and discount volume cleaners — come and go. But the need for a quality dry cleaner and laundry that knows how to take care of quality garments goes on, and customers from across the Twin Cities keep bringing their dry cleaning and laundry — as well as tailoring and even rug cleaning needs — to the experts at Village Cleaners & Shirt Laundry at Miracle Mile.

They know they can count on Village Cleaners for all their cleaning and laundry needs: re-energizing power suits, keeping formal and social-wear party ready, preserving wedding gowns, restoring heirloom garments, and keeping their everyday clothing and household items clean and fresh.

People who appreciate fine apparel understand that well-cared-for, dry-cleaned clothes last longer and look better, thanks to a very gentle, non-abrasive process that won’t wear out clothes like the laundry does. But you have to know what you’re doing. Larry, Lynn and son, Landon, do. With 100 years of combined professional dry cleaning and laundry experience, and membership in the Dry Cleaning & Laundry Institute (formerly International Fabricare Institute or IFI), they know how to handle virtually any fabric and any stain.

“Dry cleaners have the best chance of spot removal the first time. We know the correct procedures for removing spots from many types of fabrics and dyes,” says Larry. “We follow the care label instructions on all garments, and we don’t rush or take shortcuts to get a job done.”

Clothes have changed a lot over the years, according to Lynn. Today, they are more detailed, with buttons, sequins and beads that require special attention. Men’s shirts have many new blends and double-thick or concave buttons that are compromised in commercial pressing and need special handling. It takes more time to get the seams, creases, pleats and pockets straight on many garments. Discount dry cleaners just can’t take the time to give all these items the individual attention they need. Village Cleaners can.

Village Cleaners & Shirt Laundry is also environmentally conscious (green), from its wire hanger recycling program to using very efficient equipment. The store also has many washing machines and dryers to efficiently handle large household items such as down comforters, to hand-wash delicates using biodegradable soap.
