Knowing how to pack your clothes for traveling can reduce wrinkles and prevent damage to fabric. It also can mean you can save space in your luggage, allowing you to fit more inside. Different types of clothing can vary slightly, here are some basics to help take the stress out of your trip.

Pants or jeans:

Fold one leg over the other, place the pants on a flat surface and smooth out any wrinkles. Grasp the cuffs and fold the pants in half. Smooth them out once more and fold them in half again.

T-shirts:

Lay each short-sleeve T-shirt face-down on a flat surface. Fold the sleeves onto the back of the shirt and smooth out the wrinkles. Fold the shirt lengthwise once and roll it from the bottom up.

Lay long-sleeve T-shirts and thermal shirts face-down. Fold in the sleeves–the cuffs of each sleeve should almost touch the bottom of the shirt. Fold once lengthwise and roll from the bottom up.
Button down shirts:

STEP 1
Button up and place the shirt face-down. Smooth out the wrinkles and fold in the sleeves until the shoulders are almost touching.
STEP 2
Fold up the bottom third of the shirt, then fold down the top of the shirt so that it overlaps the first fold.
STEP 3
Flip the shirt over and smooth it out. Place your hand between the fold and smooth out any bunched fabric.

Skirts or dresses:

Lay out and as flat as possible, make sure there is no bunching of fabric.

Fold the clothing lengthwise once so that one half covers the other. Fold from the bottom up so that the bottom half covers the top half. Depending on the cut of the dress or skirt, you might want to fold it over from the top a second time.
